About This Quote
This story by the author Flannery O'Connor was meant to be a conversation between two characters that would eventually lead to the murder of one of the main characters. It starts off with this conversation between two people who are discussing how much they love each other. They then go on to describe what they would do if one of them ever left. The story then goes on with Gerald being murdered and Drew being the prime suspect.
In the end, Drew is given a deadline to either confess or be killed. Then, in a last ditch effort to prove his innocence, Drew sneezes at the exact right moment so that he is assumed to have been poisoned and killed by a more sinister character.
